Quick verdict
The Boulevard ClickTight remains the easiest convertible to install correctly, repeatedly, by anyone. The ClickTight tensioner closes like a seatbelt buckle and pulls the slack for you; add a 14-position no-rethread headrest and Britax's documented steel-frame structure (SafeCell crumple zone, V-shaped tether). It costs roughly $150 more than the value leaders and rear-faces "only" to 40 lb. Important buying note: Britax has retired this model — it's gone from britax.com's store in favor of the newer Poplar line, so you're shopping remaining retail stock or the used market. If install confidence is your top priority and you find one at a fair price, it's still an excellent seat.

What we like
- The install is nearly foolproof. Lift the dial, route the belt through the clearly marked path, close it. The steel tensioner pulls the slack — the failure mode ClickTight was designed to eliminate is a loose install, and it works.
- Repeatable across caregivers. Grandparents, rideshare drivers, second cars: correct installs stay correct because technique matters less.
- 14-position no-rethread headrest. The widest adjustment range in the segment grows with the child without re-threading anything.
- Documented structure. Steel frame plus SafeCell crumple zone and V-shaped tether are described in Britax's own materials — real engineering, honestly marketed as design, not as a crash-test ranking.
- Clean modern record. One closed 2015 repair-kit action; nothing since.
Where it falls short
- Rear-facing stops at 40 lb. Ten pounds short of the Graco Extend2Fit — often about a year of extra rear-facing time at the other end.
- Premium price. Roughly $150 above value convertibles, paying for convenience and finish rather than higher limits.
- Retired from production. No fresh manufacturer stock; remaining retail units will dry up, and long-term replacement-part availability narrows with it.
- Bulk. A substantial shell in compact back seats, like most premium convertibles.
Who it fits
- Multi-car families: the seat moves weekly and ClickTight makes every move safe by default.
- Install-anxious caregivers who want hardware that forgives technique.
- Grandparent/second seats where whoever installs changes often.
- Deal hunters on remaining stock: clearance pricing on a retired-but-excellent seat can flip the value math.
Look elsewhere if: maximum rear-facing longevity per dollar leads your list, or you're buying new-with-warranty and want current production — the Poplar line succeeds it, and value convertibles cover the budget case.
