Corrections Policy
Because pages are machine-maintained against cited sources, most corrections here are not embarrassing exceptions — they are the normal response to manufacturers changing specifications, prices moving, or recalls appearing. Every material correction is logged and dated.
Last updated: 2026-08-24.
How errors are detected
- Scheduled rechecks. Source pages are re-fetched on a per-category cycle; stored values are diffed against fresh ones (specs, price, warranty, availability, manuals, safety warnings).
- Change-triggered regression checks. When a source changes, all dependent claims across the site are located, affected comparisons recalculated, verdicts updated if needed, internal links validated, and the change logged before republish.
- Recall polling. CPSC and NHTSA databases are polled continuously; an exact model match triggers immediate page flags (details).
- Publish-time verification. The independent fact-check pass catches discrepancies before they ever go live.
Severity triage and targets
| Class | Examples | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Safety-critical | Wrong weight/height limit, missing recall flag, incorrect installation or expiration rule, wrong infant-insert requirement | Corrected within 24 hours of detection; affected pages flagged immediately upon detection, before the fix ships |
| Factual (non-safety) | Wrong folded dimension, misattributed feature, wrong variant specs | Corrected in the next publish cycle; typically within days |
| Commercial | Price drift, discontinued status, bundle changes | Corrected automatically on next price verification; live retailer links always show current numbers |
| Cosmetic/editorial | Wording, formatting, broken links | Fixed opportunistically; no reader-facing note required |
What a correction looks like
Material changes to published claims get a dated note at the top or bottom of the affected page, stating what changed and why. Format:
Safety-critical corrections additionally state the window during which the error was live, so readers who saw the old value know whether they may have acted on it.
Corrections log
A running log of material corrections is maintained alongside this policy, newest first:
No entries yet. The log begins empty when the site launches its trust system (2026-08-24); entries appear here as corrections occur. Absence of entries means no material correction has been issued — not that none was needed. Automated source-change updates that match previously published values exactly do not require log entries.
Reporting an error
If a specification on this site contradicts the product's official manual or packaging, the manual governs — use it. Most source-driven corrections apply automatically within one recheck cycle. A direct reader-report channel is being added to this page; until then, suspected safety-critical errors should be verified against cpsc.gov, nhtsa.gov, and the manufacturer's current documentation, which this site treats as authoritative over its own records.
