UPPAbaby Vista V2 vs Baby Jogger City Select 2

The two most popular convertible single-to-double strollers in America, compared honestly: weight, fold, seating capacity, expansion cost — and which family should buy which.

Last reviewed: 2026-08-22. Specs verified against UPPAbaby and Baby Jogger published specifications; recall databases checked on this date (sources below).

Buying note: UPPAbaby no longer sells the VISTA V2 new — it was replaced by the VISTA V3 (currently $999.99 on Amazon). We compare the V2 because millions are in daily use, resales are common, and search interest stays huge. Where it matters, we tell you what changed on the V3. Our purchase link points to the current V3 so you don't land on a dead listing.

The short answer

The Vista V2 is the premium choice if you're starting with one baby: it includes a true pram-style bassinet for newborns, carries more weight in a single seat (50 lb), and folds into a stand-on-its-own package. The City Select 2 is the value workhorse if you have (or will soon have) two kids: it costs roughly $340 less up front, takes a second seat or car seat, and Baby Jogger's own spec sheet claims it folds about 20% smaller than the Vista V2.

Where the Vista V2 wins

You get a real newborn solution in the box. The included bassinet (rated to 20 lb) means day-one walks without buying anything else. The City Select 2 assumes you'll attach an infant car seat or buy its newborn accessories separately.

The fold is friendlier for daily life. It's a one-step fold that stands on its own — handy for garages, hallways, and trunk-packing. The trade-off: folded, it's a tall 33-inch package versus the City Select 2's flat lie-down fold.

Higher single-seat ceiling. 50 lb vs 45 lb means roughly another year of strolling for a tall preschooler before you retire the seat.

Where the City Select 2 wins

Total cost for two kids. At $659.99 it starts $340+ below the Vista V3's current price — before you even price a RumbleSeat for the Vista path. If double duty is your future, the math favors Baby Jogger decisively.

More ways to configure two (or three) riders. Second seat, infant car seat, or car seat + seat combos, plus a glider board for a third kid. UPPAbaby's expansion is excellent too, but Baby Jogger built this stroller around modularity first.

Easier to store and haul. Flatter fold (its own spec sheet brags it folds 20% smaller than the Vista V2), which matters for small trunks and apartment living.

Still deciding? Answer four questions.

Our verdict

Buy the Vista V2 (or current V3) if you're starting with one baby, want the bassinet included, and value the standing fold and premium ride. You pay more now for a smoother single-child experience that can expand later.

Buy the City Select 2 if you have two kids close in age, twins on the way, or a firm budget. It does double duty for hundreds less and folds smaller between uses.

Tie-breaker: one kid now → Vista. Two kids (or coming soon) → City Select 2. Neither is a bad choice — they optimize for different families.
